(04-14) 13:29 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A woman is in the hospital with
life-threatening injuries after a large portion of a redwood tree fell on
her today in a parking lot at San Francisco's Stern Grove, officials said.
The woman was putting her dog into her Subaru Outback at the lot next to
Concert Meadow around 11:30 a.m. when part of the tree broke off and fell,
hitting her and her car, said Fire Department Lt. Mindy Talmadge.
It has been gusty in the city today, but authorities did not immediately
know whether the wind had anything to do with the accident.
Paramedic crews took the woman to San Francisco General Hospital, where
she was in critical condition. Her name was not released.
Officers with the city's Department of Animal Care and Control also
responded to the scene and found the woman's dog, who was uninjured,
Talmadge said.

I was walking my dogs today and the wind was blowing c r a z y... tree limbs were falling even as I was walking so the dogs and I started running...to get home and out of the wind. Trees that are healthy drop limbs.
Lord bless her. I hope she recovers.
