Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Nissan Electric Car in U.S. and Japan by 2010:
Hmmmm? Sound exciting except when you get to the fine print...."Mr. Ghosn declined to disclose details of the electric products and said initial quantities would be small. “We’re talking about hundreds of vehicles first,” he said." 'Hundreds'? Doesn't sound like Mr. Ghosn has yet been fully converted ("Mr. Ghosn was not always enthusiastic about alternative-fuel technology. In a 2005 speech to the National Automobile Dealers Association, he called gas-electric hybrids “niche products” useful only to meet strict fuel-economy and emission standards in states like California."), except in the press release department.
Come on....make that 100,000 and then I would proffer they were serious. This appears to be just more vaporware.
And talking about long lines....how long would that line be out GM's showrooms if inside were some nice metallic painted EV-1's? (Back in February 22, 2008 Reuters reported that General Motors Corp Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has defended remarks he made dismissing global warming as a "total crock of s---,". When the vice Chairman has that opinion, don'texpect anything substantial coming from that company.'
Bottom line - This country will only be saved by those now in school, if at all. Not so sure if they will wake up in time - what with wearing an Ipod pretty much keeps out the rest of the world and what is happening around one.
