I have been training and teaching health and fitness since 2002. In that time, I have had the privilege to meet and talk with many types of people from all walks of life. I’ve had the chance to train people who are beginners, intermediate fitness enthusiasts, and professional athletes. One of the things I am asked most often is what makes me feel accomplished. People assume that I feel accomplished by the performance of my higher-level athletes. While it is true that watching my people perform well at a high level excites me, it is not what makes me feel good about myself or what I do. It is seeing the positive emotional and physical developments of people who were once stuck in a downward spiral of negativity and poor health. When you do not feel good about yourself, it leads to depression, which leads to negative thoughts and feelings. The problems then escalate because negativity attracts more negativity. The next thing you know, you are stuck in this rut that seems inescapable. You then turn to things such as drugs and alcohol to try to hide from your problems, which we all know will further the destructive patterns. This is where fitness can come to the rescue. When you exercise, endorphins are released into your body. These endorphins resemble opiates in their abilities to produce a sense of well-being. You will then continue to exercise more and start changing your nutritional habits. The next thing you know, you start FEELING BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF! This, in turn, helps you be more positive. You start thinking more clearly. The downward spiral starts to reverse itself. This newfound positivity attracts more positive situations and people. The feeling of accomplishment and self-worth that was once just a fantasy now starts to manifest itself in bigger and better things. All of the things that were once seemingly impossible are now within reach. All it took on my part was sitting down with you for a few minutes and helping you to feel the impact and power that a fitness lifestyle can provide, helping you feel the same intense passion for what I do day to day. Now, I never said that doing all of this would be easy for you. It is hard work. The question I ask is: “How bad do you really want it?” If you really want to change, you have the power to do so, and I have the tools to help you succeed. I have been blessed with an ability to motivate people and help them see life with the same excitement and exuberance that I do. Being able to touch people in this way helps me sleep well at night. It gives me fulfillment that I could never have with any other “job,” and I would never trade that for the world.

Hey, check this out. Those of you that like salsa dancing can now enjoy it and call it exercise! Those that are chicken to get on a dance floor can also indulge their secret desire to be a sultry latin dancer and call it exercise with none of the dance floor jitters. Go by Strong Side Training and enroll in Zumba. Go shake your booty! I just have trouble stopping mine from shaking when i'm done. I wear lime green spandex for this session.

Chris knows of what he speaks. It's amazing what a little exercise will do. Sleep better. Eat better. Shrink your beer cells. Sweat out the potato chip grease. It's all good. Come on down to the gym and say hello. I'm the one in the red spandex. You can't miss me.
