Over the past two years, the number of volunteers we have had helping out with our beach and creek bacteria sampling efforts has dwindled. We are in need of a few more volunteers to cover some of the beaches and creeks where volunteers were lost. All sampling is done on Monday mornings (Tuesday mornings 3 times a year due to Monday Holidays). To not overburden any volunteers, we typically look for you to cover only 3 to 5 locations every other Monday (although we do have one volunteer sampling every week). We currently are looking for volunteers to cover:
South County Beach/Creeks (need 2 volunteers)

Montara-Moss Beach Area (need 1 volunteer)
-Montara State Beach (north end)

-Fitzgerald Marine Reserve
-San Vicente Creek
Pillar Point Harbor Area (need 1 volunteer)
-Pillar Point #7
-Pillar Point #8
-Surfer's Beach
Northern Pacifica (need 1 volunteer)
-Sharp Park #3
-Sharp Park #6
BAYSIDE (1 more volunteer would help)
-Oyster Point Marina Beach
-Coyote Point Beach
-Aquatic Park Beach on the Marina Lagoon
-Lakeshore Park Beach on the Marina Lagoon
-Kiteboard Beach (San Mateo/Foster City)
Our staff WILL TRAIN YOU, provide sample containers, sample forms, sample collection pole, cooler & blue ice. Your responsibility would be to collect the samples Monday mornings and deliver them to the fridge at either our Half Moon Bay satellite office or at the Calera Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant in Pacifica. Our staff then transports the samples to the Public Health Lab in San Mateo.
