Mitch Reid comments, "At the March 31, 2010 joint study session on the old plant, Mayor Sue Digre requested that an aquarium component be considered for the new evaluation, and several planning commisioners agreed with the request. There is no consideration of this opportunity in the new 40-page evaluation. I wonder why this request was not included or mentioned in the evaluation."

The highest and best use is for retail with housing.
Walk down to Sharp Park Beach; walk the whole length on a sunny weekend and notice all the people walking around, looking for a spot to spend some money.
Why is Pacifica the only beach town in California that does not make money off the tourists?
Think about it?

In 2007, the Pacifica Library Foundation "Findings" identified using a portion of the old WWTP as a possible future library site. Some folks have suggested a Library and Pacific Ocean Discovery Center concept much like the new Redwood Shores Library/Environmental Interpretive Center.
The current 2011 development proposal for the old WWTP site calls for selling off the southern section of the land for housing, meaning that the land will not be used as a visitor-serving aspect.
Whereas, you could sell off both city-owned library sites (Sanchez site: 3 acres) for housing, with the money going directly to the city, and then use this housing section of the WWTP for the Library and Pacifica Ocean Discovery Center. Both visitor-serving and community-serving. A boutique hotel and restaurant would be more valuable next to an attraction rather than next to condos. What concerns or objections would folks have with this concept?
