An important coastal water quality protection project is under way at the Burnham Strip in El Granada. Installation of a low-maintenance underground stormwater retention basin across from Surfer’s Beach is designed to maintain excellent coastal water quality enjoyed by recreational beach users on the San Mateo County coast.
