Interested in helping preserve the environment? Want to work with local environmental groups? Interested in serving on the board of a nonprofit organization? If so, Pacifica's Environmental Family (PEF) would like to talk with you.
Local volunteers started PEF more than 25 years ago, and it was formally incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1998. Its primary role is to be a fiscal sponsor of grassroots community projects in Pacifica that are nonprofit in scope and have an environmental focus.
In addition, PEF puts on events such as the recent screening of Chasing Ice, a climate change talk by Carlos Davidson, and an environmental forum with City Council candidates.
PEF proudly serves as the nonprofit fiscal sponsor of Pacifica Beach Coalition, Pacifica Gardens, Pacifica Shorebird Alliance, Vallemar Conservators, and Pacificans for a Scenic Coast. PEF is always looking for new groups to sponsor.
Through PEF's commitment to responsible nonprofit stewardship of their funds and under PEF's auspices, these local projects can apply for grants, hold fundraisers, and accept tax-deductible donations to sustain their important work on behalf of Pacificans and the environment throughout the year. PEF's support provides the nonprofit infrastructure to make it possible for all of these projects to make things happen and thrive.
One of PEF's goals is to expand its board of directors. PEF seeks individuals who are strongly committed to environmental sustainability, have good communication skills, enjoy being part of a collaborative group, and are available to meet at least eight times per year for board meetings.
PEF is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit administration, bookkeeping/accounting, fundraising, public relations and communications, environmental education and advocacy, event organizing, group facilitation, community organizing and/or administrative assistant skills.
If you want to be considered for a volunteer board position, please contact PEF President Marj Davis at 650-483-1161 or [email protected] to get more information and to arrange an interview.
