While most of the righteously indignant have moved on to jerk their knees in other directions, the few with a trace of open mindedness might want to hear the story from the only witnesses.

I have read the articles in the news media. As usual, the media seek to maximize the story by inciting outrage and self-righteousness in the poorly informed and gullible public. The richness offered by growing up in changing and strange cultures so far outweighs growing up on the couch, playing video games, and sending several hundred text messages every day that it defies description. As to the risks, just check out the insurance rates for boats versus cars. The insurance companies know that the risk in a car is significantly higher than on a boat. Repeating my first post, let's wait until the facts are in before we get out the pitchforks and torches.

Please read the two articles linked at the top of this post and then tell me that taking a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old on an ocean voyage is a smart thing to do.

I think we should wait for all the facts before the condemnation starts. From what I can gather, the couple was well prepared, in a good boat, with a Coast Guard licensed captain. And they did profusely thank their rescuers and others who helped.
