EL STINKO: PACIFICA WWTP HOTEL PLAN

SURVEY

Better Business Burro says that talks have broken down between Friend Hotel Developers and the City of Pacifica regarding development of a hotel at the city’s old Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) site in Sharp Park. Out of a city of 40,000, that's about one-tenth of 1 percent.

PUBLIC TRANSIT IS SMART, GUM IS DUMB

San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) has launched its Get Us Moving (GUM) campaign. Unfortunately, we cannot think of a worse acronym for a public transportation initiative. The word "gum" has all kinds of counterintuitive, negative connotations, especially in a transportation context. "Gum" connotes "stuck" and "sticky" as in "stuck in traffic" and "buses have chewing gum stuck on the floor and under the seats." Please take SMCTA's online survey, and give your honest feedback. Tell them that GUM is the dumbest acronym ever.
