We took the charter member preview tour of the new CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES. We saw the rain forest dome, Morrison Planetarium, Steinhart Aquarium, Tusher African natural history exhibits, all the old favorites and a few new ones, plus "The Living Roof," a garden of native plants and grasses covering the undulating top of the facility, which reopened officially on September 27 with a day of free admission.
What makes stars twinkle? How did life evolve? What do snakes feel like? And how can we protect this planet we call home? These are just a few of the questions you can answer, every day, at the California Academy of Sciences. And with a bold new Academy to explore—from a "green" living roof to a real rain forest to an astronomer's view of the Universe—there's never been a better time to become an Academy member. Don't miss your chance to become a Member of the new California Academy of Sciences and get discounts on admission and other benefits.
