Riptide welcomes Anita Rees, new executive director of Pacifica Resource Center (PRC). The PACIFICA TRIBUNE announced Anita's arrival. In January, PRC supported nearly 400 Pacificans from 160 families with food from the PRC food pantry. PRC also assisted Pacificans like Mr. M., a homeless father living in a tent on the beach. Through intensive case management, PRC helped Mr. M. move out of the cold and into a warm home. He plans to seize this opportunity to catch up on his union dues and return to work. I am a proud advisory board member of the Pacifica Resource Center. The Center does some pretty amazing things in our community to help more people than ever before.
The Center has a Family Harvest program. Once a month there is a food distribution from the Second Harvest Food Bank) to almost 100 families right here in our own neighborhood. Also a new produce program once a month. And now free bread to those who need it.
The Resource Center also assists people with other needs, like prevention of homelessness, budget counseling, back to school supplies, and much more.
In these hard times of high unemployment and a poor economy it is a comfort to know The Pacifica Resource Center is available to those who need help.
