Local Heroes: Two PG&E Workers from Pacifica Helped Avert Worse Disaster in San Bruno Blast

PG&E superintendent John Corona and mechanic Edward Sickinger, both of Pacifica, played major roles as first responders to the San Bruno gas explosion and fire last year that killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. Sickinger and his partner Mike Hickey of South San Francisco raced to the gas pipeline and turned the shutoff valve.
