One year I saw hundreds of monarch butterflies use those eucalyptus trees to rest. Plant more milkweed.

Remove weeds? Does this mean someone is finally going to grow some gonads and get rid of the stinking, trashy, invasive, destructive eucalyptus on that stretch? Having to drive through Australia's worst export pisses me off.

Pacifica could ticket for littering and not picking up after your pet. I've seen people, rich and poor, come to Pacifica State Beach at Linda Mar with medium-size dogs, just so the dogs can relieve themselves on the beach -- and the owners do not pick it up, and leave. Seems like a little ticketing would improve that situation, and be a small income stream for the town.

I know that at one time a group or business could sponsor a mile of the highway and be in charge of cleaning it up. Don't know if they still have that program.

It pisses me off that the pigs come down to Pacifica and leave their garbage behind on the beaches and streets and highway.

When Caltrans doesn't maintain Highway 1 in a clean and safe condition, it sort of pisses me off.

When you sue Caltrans, it sort of pisses them off.

Caltrans isn't interested in what communities say.

I made a request for a speed limit sign on the northbound highway in Fairmont, but no reply or action by Caltrans. There are regular accidents there, as many are in a race up the hill.

Imagine what a mess Caltrans would make in widening the highway.

Caltrans seems to be making Pacifica pay for the public embarrassment it suffered when its patch job on Highway 1 went wrong.

Here is the link to submit a complaint. I have asked Caltrans to clean this up a few times this month, and I know many others have, too.

A couple of times a year I mount a 5-gallon bucket on Oskar and pick up trash between Rockaway and Vallemar. Right now, during summer, the trash is really bad. I'll be going out soon to catch what I can. As for Caltrans, I've never seen them between Rockaway and Vallemar doing anything other than trimming grass.

Please join us in asking Caltrans to clean up Highway 1 between Linda Mar and the Devil's Slide Tunnels. That treacherous series of blind curves is hard enough to navigate without all the trash and weeds littering the roadway. Go to Caltrans District 4 online or call or visit in person at the Linda Mar trailer park, and ask our friendly highway honchos to clean up their act. Meanwhile, have pity on the poor saps who try to bicycle on those narrow or nonexistent shoulders. Some Third World countries have better roads and maintenance than this!
