The body discovered under the San Pedro Creek bridge at Highway 1 in Pacifica on August 26 has been identified as that of 53-year-old transient Luke Woods. His death is deemed "not suspicious" — i.e., no other person involved — which has no bearing on the cause of death, natural or otherwise (e.g., drug overdose).

When asked yesterday why the PPD neither issued a news release nor included in its media log about discovery of the homeless person’s dead body, Police Captain Chris Clement responded: "We do not typically issue press releases on death investigations unless there are suspicious circumstances involved. There was no evidence this was anything other than a natural causes death." (Is drug overdose considered a natural cause?) Thus, the PPD determined it would not be in the public interest for Pacificans to know that a homeless person's dead body had been found in a public place.
