The Pacifica School District is using bond money to build workforce housing. Measure O was also on the June ballot and it passed by a large margin. JUHSD collects two parcel taxes and a new bond. PSD collects one parcel tax and a new bond.

I'm just back from the AAUW candidates' forum. Bravo to John Keener who was, as I recall, the only candidate who spoke of our city's fiscal challenges like the pension unfunded liability, increasing by some $800,000/yr. This is dry stuff, so most candidates don't mention it. (Do they even understand it?)

I'm concerned that some candidates support every tax increase ever proposed. I'm not supporting those who put new government expenditures ahead of taxpayers' ability to pay.

For example, PSD seems to be doing workforce housing without a bond/tax increase; why didn't Jefferson Union High School District do the same instead of raising our taxes (by hundreds of dollars each year) with Measure J?

Vicky Flores is impressive, articulate, and smart, but her saying that she got only $2,500 from realtors is somewhat disingenuous. Real estate will spend far, far more than that on its 3 candidates, either with more direct contributions or independent expenditures. That should give voters pause.
