Another graded urban recreational "trail" that will further degrade where the trail goes. This is, in practice, a way to spend money for what is essentially a one-lane road that will then require further expenditures for maintenance over the years. As such, it continues our local waste of money, mislocation, and wrongful design of the California Coastal Trail (CCT). These are the hallmarks of the CCT in Pacifica, unincorporated San Mateo County, and Half Moon Bay, and shamefully supported by the state Coastal Conservancy and philosophically rerouted groups like Coastwalk. The trail will not be as close as feasible to the ocean--which is where the California Coastal Trail is supposed to go to provide horizontal access to the coastline. This entire mess is nothing like the CCT envisioned by the framers of Prop. 20 and by older coastal protection organizations that helped establish and formalize CCT guidelines with the help of understanding state legislators like Wes Chesbro.
