Smart move by Donati. If she can draw out her court trial three years or more (such as what accused embezzler Mark Sturm is doing), that's three more years at, say, $140K per year as an SFPD Sergeant before they would kick her off the force. By then maybe she'd even qualify to retire...

According to the San Mateo County Superior Court website, a pretrial conference is set for 2/5/20, and the trial is set 3/2/20. I would love to be on that jury.

Someone with that lack of judgment and sense of entitlement should not be allowed to carry a firearm, or decide who is committing a crime. I am so glad that it happened in San Mateo County. Hopefully the SFPOA will let the case proceed.

DA Steve Wagstaffe charged her with a misdemeanor. “She needs to be held accountable for what she did,” Wagstaffe said. “It isn’t like it had no consequences.”

My position is clear. If she isn't charged, the system is crap. Did the DA file charges? How do we find out? (Editor's note: We expect the DA to announce his finding August 29. It will be posted here.)

OK, I'll get this discussion started myself. If the story facts are correct, cam someone give me one good reason -- just one -- why this SFPD Sgt. should not be charged with the misdemeanor?

She pulled the fire alarm when there was no fire. If she isn't charged with a misdemeanor, the whole system is crap. Her occupation is irrelevant.

D.A. Wagstaffe says he will decide by Tuesday whether or not to file formal charges against SFPD Sgt. Donati. Are there any Riptide readers who feel certain that she will be charged or certain that she will not? And to what extent does her SFPD occupation shape your opinion, whether yea or nay?
