Dear Planning Commissioners,
I am writing regarding item 2 which I understand could dismantle the Sanchez Art Center and Pacifica Performances in order to build housing on the site which the City owns. Please understand that these 2 Cultural Gems are a part of what draws not only Pacificans to the venues but many out of town folks and, aside from our open spaces and great surfing etc. are what make this town a fabulous place to live. The City has supported both these venues over the years and I hope will not stop now. I am aware that we need housing. However Pacificans have benefited from the Art Center and The Performing Arts Center for over 30 years and hope to continue to benefit. Please do all you can to keep our cultural heritage intact at this site for current and future citizens to enjoy.
Thanks for posting this.
The amazing gigs we've seen at the concert hall, and fun art shows back of Linda Mar Valley, are, along with the park that connects to the mountain trails surrounding Pacifica, a wonderful add to the quality of life in Pacifica.
The art center and concert hall make Pacifica a quality community, one worth living in -- much more pleasant than most. With the coast only a mile away, this quality is generally not available except for the very rich.
Will the town throw this away? Will Pacifica become like LA, with housing, fast-food chains, trash, and noise?
